New station and added trips offer more travel options across Hamilton, Niagara and the GO network.
Oct. 2nd – Metrolinx is expanding GO Transit service this fall by opening Confederation GO in Hamilton and adding new train trips across several lines to support growing regional demand.
Starting Oct. 27, Confederation GO will officially open on the Lakeshore West Line, offering customers in Hamilton and Niagara more convenient access to GO rail service.
All existing Lakeshore West trips serving Niagara Falls will stop at Confederation GO. Select trips to and from West Harbour GO will also serve Confederation GO.
The station features:
- A fully accessible heated island platform with weather-protective canopies
- A pedestrian tunnel for easier platform access
- A pick-up/drop-off area with space for 15 vehicles
- 148 new parking spots
- Direct pedestrian stair access from the platform to Centennial Parkway
Confederation GO will offer riders a total of 13 weekday and 15 weekend train trips, along with continued service from GO bus routes 11 and 12.
More weekend GO train service to Niagara Falls
Beginning Nov. 1, weekend service to Niagara Falls will increase, with eight trips in each direction on Saturdays and Sundays — making weekend travel more consistent and flexible.
Beginning Oct. 27, Metrolinx is adding new rush hour trips across the GO network.
Key service enhancements include:
- Lakeshore West: More service to Niagara Falls, new Confederation GO service and six select trips to and from Oakville GO will be extended to serve Appleby GO in Burlington.
- Lakeshore East: Six new rush hour trips between Oshawa or Whitby and Union Station.
- Barrie Line: Two new peak trips between Aurora GO and Union Station.
- Stouffville Line: Two new peak trips between Unionville GO and Union Station.
These changes reflect Metrolinx’s commitment to improving service reliability, meeting the needs of commuters and building a connected region, where customers have easier access to jobs, education and experiences.
