Metrolinx hosting community event at future Mount Dennis Station

TORONTO: August 23, 2016 – At the site for our future Eglinton Crosstown Mount Dennis Station, our constructor (Crosslinx Transit Solutions) is getting ready to move the former Kodak building approximately 200 feet from its current location. The building is being moved to allow construction to start on future station components below ground. Once the work is complete, the building will return to its original location to be incorporated into station design.

We want to use the opportunity to host a community viewing event – similar to our showcase of the Crosstown tunnel boring machines over the base of Allen Road. This event will happen during the day – on Thursday, August 25th at 9:00am. We will have a community seating/viewing area, and we’re also inviting media to come and capture their own footage/photos of the event. A community BBQ hosted by Crosslinx will follow.

Media will have a specific parking area designated on-site and media who have/bring personal protective equipment (hard hat, construction boots & protective eyewear) will be able to get up close and personal to the building and the move. Media without PPE will be able to witness the entire move from a short distance. Exclusive parking for media will be available on site.

Date: Thursday, August 25, 2016
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 11:30am (media can begin set up at 8:00 a.m.)
Address: 55 Ray Avenue, Toronto
Parking: Special parking access on site for media only
Special Instructions: Bring your own power & PPE
