UP Express safety preparedness testing in April brings spring launch closer

April 7, 2015 – On April 11 and April 28 there will be safety test exercises for the new UP Express service along the rail corridor near Toronto Pearson International Airport and at the new UP Express Pearson Station. These exercises are designed to test and assess the various safety and emergency preparedness processes, including co-ordination and response communications amongst various parties, and may include the local fire, police and ambulance services participation.

These specific test scenarios include assessing simulated on-board train or station based emergencies. Each test is designed to ensure appropriate responses are made to each test situation which will include a simulated train evacuation drill. During this time you may see the trains and various first responders undertaking these simulated emergency tests. The time of the testing was planned as to not interfere with regular rail service. All efforts have been taken to minimize disruption.

The official spring start-of-service date will be announced after the successful completion of this important testing phase.

The emergency procedures and service recovery tests include:

Saturday April 11, 2015
