On October 5, 2009, the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) approved Metrolinx’s proposal to increase GO train service on the Georgetown South line, and to establish rail service between Pearson Airport and Union Station. GO Transit stations along the line are located at Bloor, Weston, Etobicoke North, Malton, Bramalea, Brampton, Mount Pleasant and Georgetown. Union-Pearson Rail Link will stop at Bloor, Weston, and Pearson Airport Terminal 1.
Metrolinx will be working on a detailed schedule of the next steps in the coming weeks. Please check back for further updates.
The feedback and suggestions Metrolinx received from the public as part of the environmental assessment have already led to a number of significant amendments to the project, such as: the solution around the Strachan Avenue grade separation, the work done around the West Toronto Railpalth, and the requirement for Tier 4-compliant locomotives. This underscores the significance of public involvement in developing solutions that can work.
