Transit Connections:

Completed: 2018

We’re delivering modern, comfortable GO service for you, with all-day, two-way 15 minute or better service on the Lakeshore West Line. Part of GO Expansion work involves improving, updating and modernizing our infrastructure (tracks, bridges, stations), to ensure we can increase service and connect you to our region, today and tomorrow.

Humber North Truss Removal

In order to deliver new better, faster and easier GO service, Metrolinx refurbished a series of bridges in Toronto, around the Humber Bay. These bridges are over 100 years old and required structural improvements to allow for more service and safety.

This work started each Friday evening and continued until the following Monday morning resulting in a full closure of the road in the vicinity of each bridge. Our schedule was as follows:

  • Colborne Lodge Drive: October 12 - 14
  • Parkside Drive: October 19 - 21
  • Ellis Avenue: October 26 - 28
  • Windermere Avenue: November 23 - 25
  • South Kingsway: November 30 – December 2

We also completely replaced the Humber River Bridge from September 8 until December 2.

The bridge refurbishment work will allow Metrolinx to deliver increased GO service levels on the Lakeshore West line, while allowing for future electric trains.

Improved lighting and clearance under the bridges will help traffic flow and enhance safety for pedestrians and drivers.

We recognize that railway work can be disruptive and we are doing our best to minimize the amount of disruption to our customers and nearby communities.
