From students to seniors and everyone in between, the Finch West LRT will fuel the transformation of the community with fast, reliable transit from Humber College to Finch West Station. With essential links to TTC Line 1, York and Peel Region local transit, it will open up possibilities for all its customers to live, work, study, and play across the area. The Finch West LRT – It’s happening.

Whether it’s heading to class at Humber College, shopping in one of the vibrant local communities or making other transit connections to travel across the region with GO, Miway, YRT, and Züm, the Finch West LRT will be the way to go. With 18 stops across 11 kilometres of rail, there will be no better way to get moving across northwest Toronto.

It’s not just that the Finch West LRT will connect northwest Toronto like never before, it will also give the economic boost the area has needed for a long time. By cutting down travel and connection times, it will fuel economic growth and make the community a better place to live and play.

With trains that will run on a dedicated track, every 5-7 minutes during peak hours, the Finch West LRT will be giving those in northwest Toronto what they’ve wanted for a long time; a transit system that offers more choices to travel on their own schedule.

In February 2016, Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx released a Request for Proposal (RFP) to companies shortlisted to design, build, finance and maintain the Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT) project. The RFP closed on December 13, 2017.

On May 7, 2018, the contract was awarded to the Mosaic Transit Group to design, build, finance and maintain the Finch West LRT. Major construction will begin in 2019 and the project will be completed in 2023.

The Finch West LRT Community Benefits Framework targets employment, apprenticeship, and local supplier opportunities.

Metrolinx recognizes that its major infrastructure investments should also provide benefits for the communities in which it works, including employment, apprenticeship, and local supplier opportunities where possible. It has therefore committed to include a community benefits program for the Finch West Light Rapid Transit line (LRT).

Metrolinx is pleased to support the concept of building Community Benefits Agreements (CBAs) into our major infrastructure projects and we have worked closely with the Toronto Community Benefits Network (TCBN) to finalize a framework for the Finch West LRT project.

Metrolinx, in collaboration with Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities have agreed upon a framework to be included in the Mosaic Transit Group’s RFP and Project Agreement.

As part of their submissions, Mosaic has provided a plan to increase apprenticeship training on the Finch West LRT, providing significant opportunities for local companies, and ensuring design excellence and community benefits.
