Mary Martin is Metrolinx’s General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Prior to joining Metrolinx, Mary was senior counsel at the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Public Infrastructure Renewal. Drawing on her 20 years as a corporate commercial lawyer in the private sector, including 14 years as a partner in the national law firm, Gowlings, Mary acted as lead provincial counsel on complex, high-profile commercial transactions. Her responsibilities included provincial legal oversight of a transaction generating over $.5 Billion of net proceeds for the province. Her role also involved several provincial/agency matters relating to two key Ontario agencies and included Alternative Financing and Procurement work. Combining her private and public sector background, Mary brings to Metrolinx a range of corporate governance, information technology, financing and other transactional experiences. Mary is a graduate of the University of Toronto law school and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1982.
