Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I apply for a Summer Student position with Metrolinx?

Our application process is entirely online. Please follow the steps below to successfully submit your application for any of our Summer Student roles. Please note: when applying online please ensure you are providing updated contact information, which will enable Metrolinx to communicate with candidates through telephone and e-mail.

Step One: Apply to the Metrolinx website by clicking on this link: Current Opportunities Page

Step Two: Once you have located the role you wish to apply for, please click the “Apply Online” button to initiation the application process. You will need to complete each step of the application process in full to ensure your application is successfully submitted and received. Please ensure you are uploading a resume for review. If you wish to tailor your resume, our technology allows you to upload multiple resumes.

Step Three: Once you have completed your online application, including uploading your resume for review & reviewing all the details, please click the “Submit” button. A few moments after you have submitted your application you will receive an automated e-mail advising you that Metrolinx has successfully received your application(s).

2. Who do I contact if I experience any difficulties when applying online?

In the event of any technical difficulties or questions when applying online, please contact HumanResources@metrolinx.com. A representative from our HR team will be happy to assist you with any issues you may be experiencing.

3. Once I have submitted my online application, what is the estimated wait time before a Metrolinx representative will contact me?

After the posting has closed and is taken down from the Metrolinx webpage, the screening process takes approximately 3-4 weeks. Once this process is completed, a representative from Metrolinx will ONLY contact successfully shortlisted candidates and discuss next steps.

4. Will I need to provide my own safety equipment (i.e. Safety Boots)?

All successful candidates for a position as a Maintenance Summer Student or a role that requires any “On Site” activities will be required to provide your own safety boots/shoes. For any additional personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses or ear plugs, Metrolinx will supply the equipment to each of its employees as needed.
