Bill Fisch, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Regional Municipality of York Region

Bill Fisch graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School, 1974 and shortly thereafter
practiced law in the community of Thornhill, Ontario.
In 1988, Fisch was elected Markham city councillor for Ward 7 and in 1994 he
became a York regional councillor. In 1997, he was appointed as chair and CEO of
the Regional Municipality of York.
Fisch currently sits as chair of the rapid transit public-private partnership
steering committee and is a member of the provincial Smart Growth Panel sub
committee and was a member of GO Transit board of directors from 2002 to 2006.
Fisch is known for his ability to develop partnerships. He is a driving force
behind an innovative public-private partnership for a York Region rapid transit
system. His visionary plans in the area of municipal service delivery and his
ability to establish clear and concise policies have resulted in the
introduction of new, innovative programs for the citizens of York Region.
He is married to Tova Fisch and has two children, David and Karen.
