Metrolinx has received federal approval and provincial approval with conditions to proceed with the Georgetown South project as outlined in the Federal Screening Report and the Provincial Environmental Project Report.
Minister of the Environment’s Conditions of Approval - Air Quality Monitoring Plan
As part of MOE’s conditions of approval, Metrolinx will submit an ambient air monitoring and reporting plan.
To assist in developing the draft plan, a Working Group was established. Facilitated by the project team’s air quality and technical experts, the Working Group met twice and provided input on:
- The monitoring requirements
- Identification of appropriate monitoring locations
- Reporting requirements

Next Steps
The draft plan is now available for public review and comment until 5pm EST January 31, 2010.

Following the completion of the public comment period, Metrolinx will submit a final ambient air monitoring and reporting plan to MOE for review and approval. This will include a record of the public comments received and Metrolinx’s responses to issues, if raised by the public.
Consultation
The Working Group included representatives from the government agencies as outlined in the Provincial Conditions of Approval, including: Environment Canada; Transport Canada; the Ministry of the Environment; the City of Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health; and the Toronto District School Board. Metrolinx also extended invitations to participate to representatives from community organizations and individuals along the study corridor.
We thank those representatives who participated for their time, flexibility and commitment to putting the best draft plan forward.
